10 Video Game Stories To Look Forward To In 2016!

Video games have evolved a tremendous amount in the last decade alone.  Fans are now treated to interactive cinematic experiences featuring amazing stories and memorable characters.

2016 promises to be the best and certainly most ambitious year in video game storytelling yet.  Here are 10 BIG reasons why:

10. The Last Guardian (Playstation 4)

This game has been in development since 2007.  It was formally introduced in 2009! …  2009!!!  Will the production issues taint the game when it’s finally released in 2016?  Or will fans be treated to a unique experience featuring a boy and his enormous friend?

9. ReCor (Xbox One)

A beautiful game created by Keiji Inafune the mastermind behind Mega Man!

8. No Man’s Sky (Playstation 4)

No Man’s Sky has the potential to be an amazing experience.  You literally have an entire universe full of planets to discover and explore.  As the game develops, more galaxies and planets will be added.  This game makes this list because the story can be ANYTHING you want it to be!

7. Horizon Zero Dawn (Playstation 4, PC)

A brand new franchise features a gorgeous world where men and women live along side mechanical beasts.  The trailer hints at a deep mythology and the gameplay looks incredible!

6. Gears of War 4 (Xbox One)

The Gears of War series returns in 2016 with a direct sequel to Gears of War 3.  With a brand new story to tell, this is a new beginning for Gears of War making it’s first appearance on Xbox One.

5. The Legend of Zelda (Wii U)

Nintendo is poised to announce the successor to the failing Wii U in 2016 and the latest Zelda game appears to be caught in the middle.  Will this title be released on both systems?  Little is known about the game as Nintendo opted to leave it out of their 2016 briefings.  Regardless, this is the first true open world game in the Zelda series. It looks absolutely beautiful.

4. Final Fantasy XV (Xbox One, Playstation 4)

Fans have been waiting years… AND YEARS for Final Fantasy XV.  Can this new game deliver on the hype fueled by decades of phenomenal stories and characters?

3. Quantum Break (Xbox One)

Ambition.  Remedy studios aims to fuse gameplay and storytelling like never before where your decisions directly affect a fully developed live action series.  The game features Shawn Ashmore (X-Men), Dominic Monaghan (The Lord of the Rings) and more!

2. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End (Playstation 4)

The fourth and final installment of the legendary Uncharted franchise arrives in 2016.  Developer Naughty Dog promised Nathan Drake’s ‘greatest adventure yet’.  With three incredible stories behind them already, there’s no reason to doubt that Uncharted 4 will be just that.

1. Mass Effect Andromeda (Xbox One, Playstation 4)

Three Mass Effect games followed Commander Shepard as he fought to defeat the Reapers.  Each game allowed you to import your character move the story forward based on past choices.  It was a remarkable experience.

Now, the Mass Effect series travels to a new galaxy featuring all new characters and new stories to tell.  Will this new game connect to the original trilogy?  If it does, it could be something incredibly unique and special.
