So…  Marvel was certainly on to something right?  Personally, I adore the very concept of a shared universe of connected films.  Marvel started the trend more than a decade ago and rival studios are launching their own franchises monthly it seems.

Some have succeeded like Star Wars with Episode VII relaunching a beloved timeline and promising spin offs like Rogue One on the way.  You could argue both Marvel and Star Wars are Disney properties and they have the formula figured out.  So what about the other major studios?

Warner Bros. haven’t exactly achieved their goals with the DC Universe.  Reaction to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was mixed and Suicide Squad received a ton of bad reviews…  But this universe isn’t going anywhere with Wonder Woman up next and Justice League wrapping up production.

The Transformers universe looks to reboot the reboot with The Last Knight and a Bumblebee spinoff on the way.  The X-Men Universe is X-panding (couldn’t resist) with Deadpool potentially leading the way.  Universal has an all-star monster line-up in development including The Mummy starring Tom Cruise!

Every Cinematic Universe is fascinating and the next few years will be insane with the sheer quantity of films planned for each.
