Whether you’re a fan of James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy or not, you can’t deny the film is overflowing with style.  Marvel’s far corner of the galaxy is full of color, remarkable planets, diverse creatures and heart.  Not too mention a legendary soundtrack.

We are now weeks away from the Guardians return and all signs point to another massive success for Marvel!  Here’s the latest trailer:

I’ve officially reached the point where I’m done with Guardians trailers and TV spots.  I’ll be there opening weekend and I don’t want to see anything else.  Especially now that we’ve gotten our first glimpse at Ego The Living Planet AKA Starlord’s father.  (Although that was technically spoiled by toys a few weeks ago.)

This trailer gives us a better sense of the plot but Disney did a good job keeping a lot of details under wraps.  And there are a LOT of details for us to discover.  This movie is juggling a lot of plot points.  Ayesha, the film’s villain (unless it’s Ego?) is well represented as a threat to the galaxy.  How does Ego factor into the plot?  How will they establish Starlord’s relationship with his father.  In additions to those points, they have to introduce Mantis and integrate Yondu and Nebula into the group.  All of those plot lines will compliment the central theme of family and the evolution of Starlord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket and Groot.

AND, even though Gunn denies it, the film will most likely include (at least) references to Thanos and the upcoming Infinity War.

That’s a lot!

Thankfully, early test screenings were extremely positive.  The film actually tested higher than any other Marvel movie to date.  It looks like James Gunn has delivered an amazing sequel and I couldn’t be more excited.  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 is packed with originality and the series’ trademark style.  They’ve even thrown in some classic video game references to add an extra touch of awesome.

No more trailers Disney.  Just take my money.
